Earliest meeting: Wednesday 26th April 1732
Final meeting: Friday 28th April 1732
The Wiltshire garrison town of Warminster, on the River Were is located on the western edge of Salisbury Plain between Bath and Salisbury. Although there is some evidence of prehistoric settlements near Warminster, the town dates from the 10th century and was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 when known as Worgemynstre. In the early part of the 18th century the town held a 3-day race meeting, starting on Wednesday 26th April 1732, and the meeting was deemed to be sufficiently important to be included in John Cheny's Historical List of that year.
